What does a local removalist cost on the Central Coast?
These are the ranges we publish across the site. They are guides, not the final price, because every move is quoted after we know what is being moved.

Five things move the number: how much furniture you have, the distance, access at both ends (stairs, lifts, where the truck can park), whether you want packing, and any premium items such as a piano, art or wine. Small removals on the Central Coast
Not every move is a four-bedroom house. A one or two bedroom unit, an apartment near the water, is a different job from a family home, and it should not be priced like one. We take half-day bookings for exactly this reason.
For a sense of scale, one recent Tuggerah to Wyong move was a 3-bedroom family home. Half-day move, two crew, one truck, finished by 1pm Saturday. A smaller move needs less than that.
Tell us what you have when you ask for a quote. A short list or a few photos is plenty. If your move is really a couple of items and a courier would suit you better, we will say so.
How a local move with Acorn works
- Tell us about the move. Use the quote form or give us a call. We ask what you are moving, where from and to, the access at each end, and your dates.
- Quick call or in-home estimate. For most homes a short phone call is enough. For larger or premium homes we offer an in-home estimate.
- Written fixed quote. One price covering loading, transit and unloading. No “starting from” figure.
- Optional pack day. If you have booked packing, we pack the day before. Partial packs (just the kitchen, or just the fragile items) are fine.
- Move day. The crew pads and wraps your furniture, loads, drives and unloads. Beds and dining tables are reassembled at the new home.
- Walk-through. Before we leave you check every room and sign off that you are happy.
What is included in a local move
- Two crew, or three for larger homes, with one or two branded trucks.
- Padding, blankets and protective wraps for furniture.
- Loading, transit and unloading.
- Light reassembly at the new home, such as beds, dining tables and basic furniture.
- A final walk-through.
Optional extras are a partial or full pack, a full unpack-and-place at the destination (beds made, kitchen unpacked, TV connected), rubbish removal for what will not fit, and storage at Lake Munmorah between settlement dates.
Who this is for
Families moving within the Coast. Upsizing, downsizing, or moving closer to school. A recent Wyong to Bateau Bay move was a 4-bed family home. Two trucks, full pack and unpack, finished by 3pm Saturday.
Downsizers and retirement-village moves. We move into Coast retirement villages regularly, including Estia Bateau Bay, Bayside and Bupa Killarney Vale, and we know the lift booking and parking routine at those sites. Why the same crew matters
Furniture removals are a trust job. People are letting a team into their home, around their belongings, on one of the more stressful days of the year. Acorn has been family-run for 30 years, with two generations of the Page family running the crews. The person who walks your rooms to quote the move is the person who does it. If something is awkward, like a narrow beach-house driveway or a lift booking in a unit block, you are dealing with people who have done it before.
How to compare Central Coast removalist quotes
If you are getting two or three quotes, and it is sensible to, compare them on the same footing. Ask each removalist the same questions.
- Is it a fixed price or an hourly rate? An hourly rate means the final bill is unknown until the truck is unloaded. A slow lift or traffic on the M1 then costs you. A fixed price puts that risk on the removalist.
- Who is turning up? Ask whether the crew that quotes is the crew that moves you, and whether anyone is subcontracted.
- What is insured? Ask about public liability and goods-in-transit cover, and what happens with higher-value items.
- What is not included? Packing, reassembly, storage and rubbish removal are the usual extras. Make sure they are either in the quote or clearly out of it.
- Is it in writing? A written quote is the easiest way to avoid a disagreement on the day.
Getting ready for move day
A little preparation makes a local move quicker, and quicker usually means cheaper.
- Sort first. Anything you will not take is something you are not paying to move. We can arrange rubbish removal for the rest.
- Tell us about access. Stairs, a lift booking, a long carry from the street or a narrow driveway are all things the crew should know before the day, not on it.
- Check parking at both ends. If the truck cannot get close, the carry gets longer.
- Keep valuables, documents and medication with you rather than on the truck.
- Empty and disconnect the washing machine and fridge ahead of time if they are coming with you.
Suburbs we cover for local moves
The most-booked Coast suburbs include Wyong, Erina, Tuggerah, The Entrance, Bateau Bay, Terrigal, Gosford and Toukley. Toukley is about 5 minutes from our depot. Wyong is about 12. The southern Peninsula is the far end of our patch, at around an hour, and Woy Woy is a regular run.
