A 3-bedroom interstate move from the Coast typically costs $4,000–$8,000, quoted as a single door-to-door fixed price. Brisbane and Melbourne are routes we run, and Sydney is one of our most-booked. What do interstate removalists cost from the Central Coast?
These are the ranges already published across our site. They are guides, not the final price.
- Interstate from the Central Coast, 3-bedroom: $4,000–$8,000
- Sydney to Central Coast, 3-bedroom with packing: $3,500–$6,500
- Storage during a settlement gap (1–4 weeks): $300–$800
The final figure depends on five things: how much furniture you have, the distance, access at both ends, whether you want packing and unpacking, and any premium items such as a piano, art or wine. We cover each of them in the quote conversation. The price you are told is the price you pay. It is not calculated per kilometre, and it does not change if traffic is bad. How an interstate move works with Acorn
- Short call or in-home estimate. About 10 minutes on the phone, or an in-home look for larger or premium homes. We cover what is moving, access at both ends, any special items and your dates.
- Written door-to-door quote. One fixed price for the whole job. Loading, transit and unloading are all inside it.
- Pack day. We arrive the day before transit, pack, label and inventory. If you are packing yourself, this is the loading day.
- Transit day. The truck drives between properties. On longer routes there is a transit night, and an overnight stop at our Lake Munmorah depot is common.
- Delivery day. We unload, do light reassembly and walk through with you. You sign off that you are happy before we leave.
- Optional storage. If your new place is not ready, we hold the contents at the depot and deliver when it is.
On longer interstate routes this is a 2 to 3 day process. A typical rhythm is packed on Friday, in transit on Saturday and delivered on Monday. We agree the actual dates with you before you book. Because we allow a two-day tolerance, loading and delivery do not have to fall on consecutive days.
Interstate routes we run
Central Coast to Brisbane and Melbourne. Family relocations on these two routes are part of our regular work. They are 2 to 3 day moves with a transit night.

Other destinations. If you are heading somewhere not listed, ask on the quote form. We would rather give you a straight answer than a vague yes.
Who interstate moves are for
Families relocating for work or schooling. You want one price, a clear timeline and no surprises while you are two states away from the old house.
Sea-changers and tree-changers going the other way. Many of our Sydney-to-Coast clients are moving to the beach. A recent Mosman to Terrigal job was a 5-bed beachfront sea-change. It involved a full Sydney pack including art and wine, 3 weeks storage at Lake Munmorah and a full unpack at Terrigal, on a door-to-door fixed price.
Premium and high-value moves. Art, wine, antiques and pianos need specialist handling and higher insurance limits. Tell us about them early so the quote reflects them.
People whose dates do not line up. Settlement, lease end and a job start rarely fall on the same day. Storage at our depot is built for this.
What about insurance on a long haul?
Public liability and goods-in-transit insurance is standard on every Acorn move, including interstate. For high-value items we can arrange higher limits. Ask about them when you quote, and describe the items so we can plan the handling as well as the cover. Keep documents, valuables and medication with you rather than on the truck.
Storage between homes
If you are leaving one state before the new place is ready, we can hold your furniture in climate-controlled storage at Lake Munmorah. You get an itemised inventory with photos. It is covered while it is in storage, and it is all under one quote with the move. A 1 to 4 week gap typically adds $300–$800. Read more on our furniture storage page.
Packing for a long-distance move
Furniture that is going a long way needs to be packed properly. We supply boxes, padding, packing paper and wrap, and we can pack the whole house, just the kitchen and fragile items, or nothing at all. Our crew also unpacks and places items at the other end if you want to walk into a made bed and a working kitchen. See packing and unpacking for the detail.
Preparing for an interstate move
- Book early if you need a Friday pack day or a weekend, because weekends are our busiest days.
- Declutter before the quote. Every item you do not take is weight you do not pay to move.
- Confirm access at the destination, including parking, stairs and any building manager requirements, before the truck leaves.
- Tell us about premium items and anything you want to carry yourself.
- Plan for the transit night. You will not see your furniture for a couple of days, so keep a bag of essentials with you.

We are a small family business, two generations of the Page family running the crews, and we have been doing this since 1996.
